Why can FAS be used for deinking pulp?

FAS generates active reducing species under suitable alkaline conditions.

These reducing species can react with certain chromophoric structures and colored substances, helping to reduce color and improve the optical properties of recycled pulp.

FAS can therefore be considered for:

DIP brightness improvement

Reductive bleaching

De-colorization

Treatment of colored recycled fibers

Brightness adjustment after deinking

The actual performance depends strongly on the furnish, ink system, pulp consistency, pH, temperature, reaction time and process configuration.
