Does FAS remove ink, ash, stickies or contaminants?

FAS should not be regarded as a universal deinking chemical.

Its primary role in this context is reductive bleaching / color reduction.

It should therefore be distinguished from:

Surfactants

Deinking chemicals

Chelating agents

Dispersants

Flotation chemicals

Hydrogen peroxide

The overall DIP system may require several chemical stages.

FAS is primarily intended to improve brightness and color characteristics, rather than physically remove all ink particles or stickies.
