Direct answer
Reduction clearing must be followed by rinsing and neutralisation. This is not a formality: residual alkali and reducing agent keep acting on the fabric, which shows up as shade drift, poorer fixing and softening in later stages, and a finished-goods pH outside specification. Many apparel brands set an explicit limit on finished fabric pH.
